Reinforcement steel (grading, types, sizes)
Reinforcement steel is a common merchant bar, and is commonly used in reinforced concrete. Rebar holds reinforced concretes together and provides it with integrity, overstability and distributes load equally along the perimeter of the construction.
Rebar is usually made as rod, rope or wire. It may have ribs (rebar A1) or die-rolled round-cross section. According to the ways of fixing rebar can be cross or lengthwise.
Rebar performance depends on the constitution of its ingoing material. Common rebar is made of steel: carbon of commercial quality (3-5sp), alloy (35GS, 25G2S) and high-hardness (23H2G2T, 23H2G2ZH) and other.
There are four strength indexes for rebar I-IV each has characteristics of plasticity, rupture strength and so on. There are several sizes of reinforcement steel. Here are permissible dimensions according to strength index (mm): À-I - 6-40; À-II - 10-40, 40-80 (ÀS- II - 10-32); À-III - 6-40, 6-22; À-IV - 10-18, 10-32; À-V - 10-32; À-VI - 10-32.
The length of rebar is specified according to GOSTs from 6mm to 12 mm, specific cut or off-gauge length. It is possible to produce rebar of irregular size on special-order.
Steel round (application, sizes)
Steel round is a common merchant bar. It is a stick with circular section. It is commonly used as a billet in tube making. It is widely used in machinery construction.
There are several diameters of round steel: 5.0, 9.0, 12.0, 20.0, 28.0, 45.0, 65.0, 270.0 and other. The diameter of steel round is specified according to GOSTs from 5 mm to 270 mm. Rounds up to 9 mm are coiled and rounds over 9 mm are delivered as bolts.
Common steel round is made of different types of fixed steel:
carbon steel of commercial quality (st0sp-st6sp);
carbon fine steel (10-60);
alloy steel (15H-50H; 45G2; 18HG-50HG; 33HS-40HS and other);
tool carbon steel (U7, U8, U10À; U12À and other);
rust-resisting steel (40H10S2M; 15H11MF; 20-40H13 and other);
heat-resistant steel (45ÕH4N14V2M; HN35VT and other);
uncommon steel types;
Common length of steel round is usually form 2 m to 12 m, 6 m is in great demand. Highly alloyed steel round is delivered from 1 m to 6 m ling.
Length deviation is limited according to GOST 2590-88 to 30 mm or less if the round is 4 m long, 50 mm and less if the round is 4-6 m long and 70 mm and less if the round is 6 m or longer.
Iron rod (application, gauge)
Iron rod is a common merchant bar and it is a hot-rolled wire with circular section. It is produced on wire machine and delivered in coils.
Iron rod is commonly used in producing of cold-rolled wire. It is used in producing of steel ropes, packages and as billet for springs and rebar.
Iron rod is made of carbon steel of commercial quality (st0, st1, st2, st3 (boiling, finished and balanced). Chemical and physical characteristics are specified by GOST 380-94.
Iron rod is produced in accordance with requirements of GOST 30136-96 which regulates gauge, characteristics, transport conditions, possible deviation etc.
There are several diameters of iron rod: 5,0; 5,5; 6,0; 6,3; 6,5; 7,0; 8,0 and 9,0 mm. It is possible to produce iron rod with diameter over 9.0 mm on special-order. Iron rod is delivered in coils as unbroken stick. Weight of a coil of iron rod is commonly equals 50-850 kg.
Galvanized steel is common flat steel. Zinc is oxidation-resistant and due to this feature a galvanized product has corrosive resistance. Steel sheet can be one- or two-sides galvanized in both cases it can easily be processed further: punching, cut, bending, rolling, drawing and etc.
Galvanized steel is widely applied in machinery construction, industry and building; it is also used as billet in producing galvanized tubes. Galvanized steel roll being rolled cold to emboss is also known as shaped boarding.
There are several groups of galvanized steel according to the application: common, cold forming (for shaped boarding), cold forging and temper (for further painting).
Galvanized steel is commonly made of carbon cold-rolled steel: 08ps, 08kp, 08U, 08ps, 10kp, etc. The quality of the surface is specified by GOST16523-89.
There are several different sizes of galvanized steel sheets: 710-1800mm width and 0.5-2.0 thickness. Length is usually ordered and commonly equals 1000-2000 mm.
Hot-rolled sheet is common flat steel. It is a metal plate. Hot-rolled sheet surface is a little rough.
It is applied in many ways in industry, machinery construction, and building. Hot-rolled sheet is also used as billet for further cold-roll.
Hot-rolled sheet is delivered in sheets and in coils.
Hot-rolled sheet is commonly made of fixed carbon steel of commercial quality. The following types of steel are used in producing hot-rolled sheet: St0, St2kp, St2ps, St 2kp, St 3kp, St 3ps, St 3sp and etc. Chemical and physical characteristics are specified by GOST 380.
Hot-rolled steel sheet is made in following sizes:
width 500 mm and above;
thickness from 0,40 mm to 160 mm.
Hot-rolled steel sheet is classified according to:
accuracy of rolling (A, B);
flatness quality (PO, PV, PU, PN);
edging (NO, O).
Width deviation is limited to +2, +5 and +7 percent. Detailed information about hot-rolled sheet is in GOST 19903-74. Failure to comply the requirement of GOST 19903-74 is subject to legal prosecution.
Cold-rolled steel sheet (application, grading, and gauge)
Cold-rolled sheet is common flat steel. It is produced by cold rolling.
It is widely applied in building, machinery construction, industry and as billet for merchant bar (round, square, hexagon) and etc.
Technical characteristics and parameters of cold-rolled sheet 500 mm width are specified by GOST 19904-90.
There are two types of cold-rolled sheet:
common structural;
for cold forging.
Pressing and cold forging are applied to make different products.
Cold-rolled sheet is made of different types of steel:
08u, 08kp, 08ps
St1kp, St2ps, St3sp, St4kp, S5ps and etc;
08, 08ps, 10, 10kp, 10ps, 15ps, 20, 20kp, 20ps and etc.
There are the following sizes of cold-rolled sheet:
thickness: 0,35-5,00 mm;
width: 500-2350 mm;
length 1000-6000 mm.
The length of cold-rolled sheets can be is not defined. Sheets of uncommon sizes are produced on demand.
